This renovation and expansion of Sharonville Convention Center was designed and built to accommodate larger events. The 76,760 SF expansion included a 20,000 SF exhibition hall with drive-in access and loading dock, two floors of meeting rooms, and a third floor of convention center offices. A new main entrance and entry lobby facilitate circulation and provide breakout event space with a reception gallery serving as a pre-function space. The stately main entry is a glass rotunda with interior lighting that serves as a beacon for highway travelers and a destination for the guests arriving for their events. An outdoor veranda was also constructed for added event space.

The 58,658 SF existing building renovations included the conversion of an exhibition hall into a ballroom, upgrades to meeting rooms, a catering kitchen, and new technology throughout the facility for electronic signage, message boards, built-in registration areas, and ticket counters. The center’s parking lot was also expanded to accommodate 1,000 vehicles. After completion of the expansion and renovation the three-story facility totals 133,000 SF.

Megen Construction was the construction manager from preconstruction through construction. Our team deftly handled the renovation and expansion, keeping the building fully operational for the duration of construction. All five phases of the project were completed on schedule without interruption to the event schedule. Bids for the project came in $2M under the estimated $26M, allowing the Owner to select from a number of alternates, and the entire project to be built under the original budget. Certified with a LEED Silver rating, Sharonville Convention Center is the only LEED certified event facility in the Greater Cincinnati area. Its sustainable features provide annual savings in energy, lighting, and HVAC costs. This project anchored the redevelopment efforts in the area, and has provided a nexus from which inspiration can be drawn for both public and private development.

“The project staff did an excellent job with communication and safety. They were professional and courteous, even in the most difficult times. Most importantly, they were flexible. In this business, you cannot turn away a customer. Megen would always work around shows and conferences, no matter how last-minute the booking, so there was no interruption in service.”
