This multi-building program replaces existing facilities for Winton Woods City School District with a new 205,000 SF K-6 campus to house 1,921 students and a new 250,000 SF 7-12 campus to house 1,594 students. Designed and constructed to correspond with the District’s New Tech Network educational model, the school is segmented into smaller communities with multi-use and digital production labs, seminar rooms, collaboration spaces, and shared dining spaces to facilitate critical thinking, collaboration and communication. Features also include a learning stair, tech hub, multi-function lab space, arena gymnasium, auditorium, media center areas, courtyard, and playground. After the new schools were in operation, abatement and demolition of the existing facilities was completed. Both schools achieved LEED Gold certification.
Megen, in conjunction with their JV partner, provided preconstruction and construction management at risk services. Our project team was instrumental in working with the District, architect and subcontractors to reduce the project cost. Additionally, our experience on occupied K-12 sites was beneficial in formulating a logistics plan to ensure safety of students, staff and community safety as both projects were constructed next to the existing schools. Despite constructing throughout the pandemic, both schools were completed on schedule and meet all milestones.

“If we had the opportunity to do more construction with them, we would jump at the opportunity. They are experienced, fair, smart, supportive and treat us like a long-term partner or friend and less like a client.”
